1.A ride around the equator 

More than 59,000 kilometres have been pedalled so far in the NRMA 500km Gold Medal Challenge but the number is expected to be at least six times greater again by the time the final tally is counted. Just over a sixth of the 601 logbooks had been returned at the time of going to press and, according to James Adams, manager of the Bicycle NSW schools program, the number would surge as the March 5 deadline for the return of logbooks drew closer. But even the early figures are impressive - the number of kilometres cycled to date would be the equivalent of cycling around the Equator.

2.Heads you win 

When Montannah Murray sat down to design a cycling helmet, she had a clear picture in her mind of what she wanted to achieve.
"My design was about bright colours that would stand out and would let drivers know that there were cyclists on the road," explained the 13-year-old student from Warilla High School. It certainly caught the imagination of judges in the Bicycle NSW competition to create a new helmet design; hers beat 4236 entries to take out top prize

3.5000 take Bike ed workshops 

The bicycle education workshops run by Bicycle NSW have proved to be boon students across the state. More than 5000 students have taken the workshops since 2008.
